Case Consultation

Case consultation is designed to support school district staff, students, and their families, in planning the student's education in a sound and appropriate manner. Services are generally specialized with particular kinds of students, or students with particular kinds of needs. Examples are students with social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties, and more specifically those identified as Emotionally Disturbed under federal and state laws or other students with disabilities with behavioral issues, or behavioral IEP goals.

Services provided to clients may include evaluation of student aptitudes, personal characteristics, review of student's files, psychological evaluations, educational evaluations, and other related case history for the purpose of making recommendations for behavioral supports, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention plans, and Behavioral goals for Individual Education Plans.

The goal of case consultation is intended to improve the quality of life of the student in school by enhancing the school district's ability to meet its academic mission. This is especially important where home, school and community collaboration is the key to achieving that mission. This is accomplished by working with teachers, administrators, counselors, psychologists, behavior specialists, nurses and parents to integrate information from all available sources regarding the student's overall social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning at school.
