Conflict Management & Resolution
This workshop is designed around a proactive approach to responding to conflict in an educational setting. Conflict management and resolution are treated as two separate processes in which both are necessary to effectively respond to conflict situations. The model is based on a continuum of interventions, which includes basic key concepts, managing power struggles, critical adult skills, conflict resolution approaches, classroom climate, management strategies, and managing escalating behaviors. The underlying assumption of this workshop is that conflict is a natural function of gathering people together and cannot be avoided. It is also assumed that there are multiple reasons for conflict and that we need more than one method to effectively respond to conflict.
