Encouraging Academic Performance
This training is designed for regular and special education teachers and is focused on teaching Cause & Effect Relationships to "High Risk" behavior students to enhance their academic performance. Research is presented on structured building and classroom level strategies designed to promote and teach students the behavioral skills necessary to be academically engaged and successful. Action research will be reviewed and the variables involved in successful interventions will be outlined and described. These efforts include group and targeted individual interventions and understanding the "Function of Students Behavior" to guide the intervening process. Materials and protocols are provided.

- Describe the nature of the disability for students with Emotional Disturbance
- Implement guidelines that will allow participants to establish expectations for classroom behavior
- Apply specific interventions and problem solving strategies for students who disrupt the educational process
- Apply school Positive Behavior Supports processes to student management
- Implement a plan of action sequence for working with challenging students
- Apply specific interventions for managing conflict with students who disrupt the classroom environment
- Develop and implement a locally normed behavioral skill assessment protocol and process
- Develop a specific plan of action to implement with a targeted student
